Here at Little Crown Interiors, we recently had the pleasure of designing Sophie Elkus‘ twin nursery. The goal was to transform her guest room into a stylish and functional space for two babies, blending traditional and modern styles. She wanted a color palette of blues and hints of blush, all tied together with stunning floral motifs.

Designing a Sophisticated Twin Nursery
The nursery’s vaulted ceiling was the perfect canvas for a dramatic design element. We knew right away that we needed to start with the walls, and Sophie was interested in a low-paneled look with wallpaper above. After a long search, we found the perfect blue Chinoiserie wallpaper with sweet birds and florals. The paneling below keeps the high ceilings from being overwhelming and creates a visual break in the pattern.
Choosing the Right Furniture

With twins in mind, we needed furniture that was both compact and versatile. We chose the Yuzu 8-in-1 Convertible Cribs, which offer multiple configurations to grow with the babies. Their built-in wheels make them incredibly easy to move around the room as needed. To warm up the space and complement the woven window shades, we selected the cribs in a natural wood finish, a nice contrast to the white wall paneling.

The room’s window niche was the ideal spot for a glider. We selected the Kiwi Plus Power Recliner + Glider in a light-colored boucle fabric, adding a soft texture to the space. And because every nursery needs ample storage—especially for two!—we included the Enoki Ottoman also in boucle.

Personal Touches and Decor Accents
To add some visual interest and a touch of sweetness, we hung a blush hanging mobile over the crib area and installed scalloped wall ledges for books and small decorative items. We continued the scalloped theme with other decor, including storage bins and a floor lamp.

The nursery already had built-in cabinets, so instead of replacing them, we simply updated the hardware. We swapped out the old knobs for beautiful gold floral knobs that tie into the floral theme of the wallpaper and make a surprising impact. We completed the changing station with a neutral silicone changing pad and a cane tiered diaper caddy.
