When I first talked with Tara Brose about designing her beachy, sage green nursery, she had a clear vision in mind: a peaceful retreat that combined the calming essence of the coast with earthy, natural elements. She wanted sage green accents, beachy vibes, and warm wood tones—a space that would feel both soothing and timeless. I was thrilled to bring her dream to life!

Warm Wood in the Nursery
Tara fell in love with the new ellska Skye crib by ergoPouch, which I also got to see at the trade shows earlier this year. It debuted so recently that Tara was the first client to get it in the U.S.! The warm wood tone and gorgeous curves made it a great choice for her beachy sage green nursery.

Using Sage Green Wood Paneling
Many of the inspiration images Tara sent had wall paneling, so I wanted to make sure we incorporated that. We designed the paneling height to sit just above the crib to really make the crib stand out against it. The soft sage green works perfectly and feels natural and earthy in the space.

To complement the sage green and enhance the beachy feel, we layered in soft sandy neutrals, warm whites, and touches of natural texture. The result is a color scheme that feels like a peaceful walk along the shore—tranquil, grounding, and effortlessly beautiful.

Choose Nursery Artwork that’s Personal To You
Tara’s husband is a photographer and wanted to include some of his own work in the nursery for a personal touch. They chose three beautiful art prints from their travels and customized them to fit the color scheme. To balance the artwork and bring in more natural elements, we chose textured wall planters for either side of the window.

Tips for Making a Small Nursery Feel Airy
This nursery was small, so we kept the window treatments light and bright. There is also a mirror over the dresser to help bounce the light around the room. But it’s the natural beechwood of the crib and the tranquil sage tones that really bring a soft serenity to the nursery.
